This week students continued jumping rope, but we also played a great game called Wolf Cage. It was a high-activity running game that really got everyone's heart rate up. There are 3 variations of Wolf Cage, and we are playing the last "level" next week. After each session of jumping rope, or playing Wolf Cage, students check their pulse and we discuss how exercise is important for keeping our hearts healthy.

We finished curling this week. Students became more adept at shooting as the week went on. There were some very exciting games. Grades 3 and 4 students competed in a King's Court style tournament. Students were highly engaged in the games, but were still able to show excellent sportsmanship afterwards. That's great to see. Below is a picture of our floor curling set-up this week. Thank you to my grade 4 volunteers who helped set up every morning.

We started floor curling this week. At MTS we are very lucky to have our own floor curling equipment, which was purchased by parent council way back in 2018. So we always start by talking about how to care for the equipment. Afterwards, students practiced in partners, and then we had an accuracy competition. Later in the week students honed their skills while participating in some stations. Next week we will start playing some actual games. And if you are looking to get your own curling fix, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts is here in Calgary this year, and tickets are pretty inexpensive. Bring your cowbell!
