We completed Lacrosse this week.  Students participated in some culminating stations to end the unit.  They demonstrated their stick handling, scooping, shooting and passing skills during the stations.  I was impressed to see how much they improved throughout the unit.   I encourage all MTS students and families to look into field or indoor lacrosse opportunities, as well as taking in a Calgary Roughnecks game - they can be tons of fun.
We continued practicing our lacrosse skills this week.  We mainly focused on our shooting technique.  Students learned to keep their hands low on the stick, point the bottom of their stick at their target to aim, and to follow through and point their stick at their target when finished shooting.  We played a fun and challenging game called Shoot for Treasure where students had the opportunity to shoot on me as the goalie.  Of course no one was able to score on me... Just kidding! Lots of goals were scored by the students!
Lacrosse! For the last two (partial) weeks, we have been learning lacrosse skill in PE class.   Students worked on scooping the ball from the ground (a tough skill for our younger students) and a variety of ball handling skills.  Lacrosse can be tough for our younger students, but it is a good opportunity to work on our perseverance.   If we all  try our best , we will all be better at the end then we were at the beginning!    We will continue to learn lacrosse skills next week.
We celebrated the season with lots of fun Halloween games this week.  We still focused on overhand throwing in the games Trick or Treat 1, and Trick or Treat 2.  Then on the day of Halloween students warmed up with some Halloween Freeze Dance (great dance moves!), then we played Zombie Tag, and finished off with Wax Museum to calm everybody down before going back to class.   It is hard to believe two months have already passed and that November is already here.  We have lots of fun activities to look forward to this winter including: lacrosse, floor hockey, snowshoeing (if the weather cooperates), floor curling, and basketball.
