We had an exciting week of PE here at MTS. The Grade 3 and 4 students started their Alien Inline residency. It is pretty cool to see students who have never skated before the residency, be able to stand up and do some laps by the end of the week. I am able to witness hundreds of moments of resiliency every Alien Inline session when a student falls but gets back up and keeps skating. That makes me proud! Alien Inline's last session will be on Halloween. Students will need to make sure that their costumes will not interfere with skating - they can also take them off for skating if they need to.
While Alien Inline was in the gymnasium, I was in the hallway teaching PE. Students participated in a variety of exercise stations. They included: squats, pushups, planks, balance board squats, skier jumps, donkey kicks, and mountain climbers among a few others. We spoke about the benefits of physical activity like healthier hearts and lungs, improved emotional state, and more focus.
