Happy New Year! It's good to be back teaching PE at MTS. We started the new year off with a game that focused on sportsmanship and teamwork. It was called Cross the River. Students had to work as a team to complete a number of levels (the levels got harder depending on grade level). We focused on what traits good teammates have: they are kind, they share, they do not boss others around, etc. It was fun to watch students work together!
Frisbee Fun in the Sun!
We’ve been soaking up the sunshine this week in PE as students practiced their frisbee throwing skills! Our focus was on both distance and accuracy, and students worked hard on improving their control, aim, and teamwork. We started with some drills to practice longer throws and catching on the move. Once everyone was warmed up, we played Leapfrog Touchdowns , a fast-paced game where teams tried to complete passes and make it into the endzone without dropping the frisbee. Students had to communicate, move into open space, and anticipate each other's throws — great practice for both skills and teamwork! Next, we played Rock the Pylon , an accuracy-based game where students earned points by either hitting the pylon directly or landing their frisbee inside the circle around it.
