We had amazing weather for our Terry Fox Run this week! It was so great to see everyone push themselves to achieve their goals during the run, and even if they didn't achieve their goals at least they tried their best! Try Your Best is our first rule in the gym, and we talk about how important it is quite often. If you try your best you will: get great exercise, get better at the skills, and have fun! Many students were excited to show me how many laps they ran, and I was impressed with the numbers. Each lap was nearly 400m, so if your son or daughter ran 5 laps that equals 2 kilometres. Some students were able to get 10 laps (and more), which was a whopping 4 kilometres. Not bad for a 21 minute run! For the next two weeks Physical Education will take place outside because the gym is being used for the grade 3/4 Alien Inline Residency. So please come everyday prepared to get active outside with close toed shoes (i.e. no crocs or sandals), sweate...

Students continued to prepare for our Terry Fox Run this week. We played lots of running games including, Point to Point, Walk Run Switcheroo, Pyramid Run, and Snowball Capture. I'm so proud to see the students push themselves to run just a little bit longer when they get tired. Our Terry Fox Run will be held Wednesday, September 25th at 9:15am. Hopefully we have good weather, but we should remember that Terry ran everyday no matter the weather - so we should be able to run in some cold and drizzle if it comes down to that. On Monday students in Ms. Pynn and Thomson's classes witnessed a low flying hot air balloon. We usually see them in the early fall mornings, but I have never seen one pass over the school so low. It was pretty neat.

This week students got their running legs ready for our upcoming Terry Fox Run on September 25th. We did a number of running activities and games. I encouraged students to "Try Like Terry" because when we try our best: we get great exercise, we get better at the skills (in this case running), and we have fun! I was proud to see students pushing themselves during our practice Terry Fox Run on Wednesday. Many students completed an impressive number of laps around our field. We marked these laps on students' hands with marker so that they are better able to set a goal for our Terry Fox run on the 25th.

Hello MTS students and parents. Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to once again be your son or daughter's Physical Education teacher at MTS. This will be my eighth year teaching PE at MTS! A little about me: - Growing up I around to southern, central, and northern Alberta, and then my family eventually settled in Calgary. - I went to University in Lethbridge where I received a B.A. in Kinesiology and a B.Ed. with a specialization in Physical Education. - I have been with the CBE since 2010, and have taught at a few different schools. I taught humanities and PE in a Junior High, then five years as a grade 3/4 teacher at the All Boys Program. Now I am very happy to focusing solely on PE at MTS - I love skiing, fly-fishing, camping, and hiking with my family and dog. I'm looking forward to another great year. Please follow my blog if you'd like updates about what we are doing in, and outside of, ...
