Terry Fox Run Week

This week in PE was a busy one! We played some fun running games, enjoyed some beautiful fall community walks, and finished the week with our Terry Fox Run. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and effort from our students as they challenged themselves during the run. The track was 400 metres long, so be sure to ask your son or daughter how many laps they completed! You might be surprised by how much distance they covered.   A big thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped out with the community walks and with the Terry Fox Run this week. Your support makes fun events like these possible and is greatly appreciated. Our next community walks will be on Monday, October 5. One quick reminder: PE will be outside on Monday and Tuesday next week as the gym will be used for rehearsals. Please make sure students come prepared for the weather. Thanks for another great week in PE!

PE Update September 18th

We continued working on our running activities this week as we get ready for our Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 23 at 9:00 a.m. Students have been building their endurance, practicing pacing themselves, and working on staying active for longer periods of time. We also enjoyed our first community walk! It was great to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and explore our neighbourhood together. A reminder that students are also encouraged to bring in Toonies for Terry to support cancer research. Every little bit helps! Our next community walk is planned for Thursday, September 24. Students should come prepared for the weather and wear comfortable footwear for walking. Thanks for helping us get the year off to such an active start!

The first two weeks of PE are already in the books!

The first two weeks of PE are already in the books! During our first week, we focused on getting back into the swing of things by practicing our routines and expectations for PE. We worked on things like entering and leaving the gym, listening for instructions, using equipment safely, and making the gym a positive place for everyone to learn and have fun. This week, we turned our attention to Terry Fox. Students learned about Terry’s incredible story, his Marathon of Hope, and his goal of raising money for cancer research. We also began some running training to help get ready for our school Terry Fox Run on September 23. Students are encouraged to bring in toonies for Terry as we work together to support the Terry Fox Foundation. Every little bit helps, and it’s great to see our students learning about the importance of perseverance, kindness, and giving back to our community. We’re off to a great start and looking forward to a fun year in PE! Community Walks in PE Starting Wedne...
