We had another successful Terry Fox run on September 19! I was so proud to see all the students trying their best to achieve their goals. I didn't intend to run myself this year (bad joints...) but I ended up doing 6 laps! During one of the laps I measured the distance using an app on my phone, and it turns out the track was 400m long. So any student who was able to complete five laps ended up running 2 kilometres! We had some students complete ten laps for a whopping 4 kilometres! Incredible! All that in 22 minutes! So obviously I am very proud of every students' hard work.
We have an exciting dance residency starting for our K-2 students next week. Ms. Allara with 3 Left Feet will be coming in to teach our K-2 students a dance from September 26th-October 6th. This residency is being funded by our parent council, for which I am very thankful. Dance is such a great activity to develop physical literacy. PE class will still take place as usual, but it will be outside for those dates. So please dress for the weather - especially the cool mornings.
As for our fundraising goal, we crushed it again! We are still counting the money today, but we have surpassed our $1200 goal by quite a bit. So this Tuesday will be Tutu Tuesday! Some staff members and myself will be donning a tutu for the whole day, and we encourage any students who would like to participate to wear a tutu as well. It will be fun!
Have an excellent weekend!
Mr. van Sluys
