Earlier this week I went out to the school field and painted a 200m track on the grass, or should I say dandelions... So, this week students in grades 1-4 started Track and Field. We started on Tuesday by discussing some of the different types of track and field events, i.e. running, jumping, and throwing events. We will use the track/field for at least 5 different events. So far this week students competed in the long jump, the 400m (200m for grade 2 students), 50m sprints, and some have already completed our version of discus - the frisbee toss. It's been tonnes of fun watching students try their best at different events. I hope this inspires students to try out for the Track and Field team once they start middle school.

Next, we played Rock the Pylon , an accuracy-based game where students earned points by either hitting the pylon directly or landing their frisbee inside the circle around it. The excitement was high as students cheered each other on and challenged themselves to aim carefully. It’s been a fantastic week of active learning, and we’re proud of how students are building both their phy...
