This week we finished up Track and Field here at MTS.  Students finished by competing in the Frisbee Throw (our "throwing event because we have no shot-puts or javelins...) and the 4x200m relay.  Both events were very exciting, especially the relays.  I loved watching all students try their best in Track this year. 

Later in the week students played Bocce Ball. Then on the 21st, National Indigenous People's Day, students participated in a community walk/clean-up.  It was nice to see students pitching in to care for our environment and community.  Good work MTS!

Frisbee Fun in the Sun!

We’ve been soaking up the sunshine this week in PE as students practiced their frisbee throwing skills! Our focus was on both distance and accuracy, and students worked hard on improving their control, aim, and teamwork. We started with some drills to practice longer throws and catching on the move. Once everyone was warmed up, we played Leapfrog Touchdowns , a fast-paced game where teams tried to complete passes and make it into the endzone without dropping the frisbee. Students had to communicate, move into open space, and anticipate each other's throws — great practice for both skills and teamwork! Next, we played Rock the Pylon , an accuracy-based game where students earned points by either hitting the pylon directly or landing their frisbee inside the circle around it. Building Badminton Skills! Over the past two weeks in Physical Education, our K–4 students have been diving into the exciting world of badminton ! It’s been wonderful to see their energy, determination, and growth as they learn new skills on the court. We’ve focused on two key skills: the backhand serve and practicing short rallies . At first, these were challenging for many students, but with consistent effort and enthusiasm, they’ve made fantastic progress. One of the biggest highlights has been rallying with the students myself—many of them have been so excited to see how many times we can keep the birdie going back and forth! The gym has been full of cheers and celebration as students have begun to rally with each other, reaching new personal bests and showing off their developing coordination.
