It's been an exciting week here in our PE class, and I wanted to take a moment to fill you in on all the fun activities your children have been participating in.
Gymnastics Mastery
First off, we wrapped up our gymnastics unit this Monday with our last day of gymnastics stations. The students have been working hard on their balance, coordination, and strength through various gymnastic exercises and routines. It's been wonderful to see their progress and confidence grow each week.
Hoop Rollers Adventure
In addition to gymnastics, we introduced a new rolling game called Hoop Rollers. The goal of the game was to roll a ball, and have it stop inside your team's set of hula hoops. This actually took a lot of accuracy and students had to roll the ball with just enough "weight" to be successful.
Parachute Finale
We capped off the week with a burst of excitement - parachutes! This classic PE favourite never fails to bring smiles and laughter. The parachute not only promotes cooperative play but also enhances cardiovascular endurance and spatial awareness. It was heartwarming to see the students collaborate as they made waves and played various games under the colourful canopy.
Looking Ahead
After spring break we have some exciting plans lined up. We will move directly into learning basketball skills after the break, and then dive into outdoor sports shortly after that. Students in grades 3 and 4 also get to look forward to swim lessons in late May (please keep an eye out for permission forms coming home).
Wishing you a wonderful spring break week ahead!
Mr. van Sluys
