Outside Fun

Hi families! We had an action-packed week in PE, and while our gym is getting a fresh coat of paint, we’ve taken our energy outdoors! From kindergarten to grade 4, students have been running, laughing, and staying active in the fresh spring air. Tag, You're It (Again and Again!) This week was all about TAG games—and wow, did we play a lot of them! Here’s a peek at some of the favorites: Predator and Prey: Fast feet and quick thinking were key as students dodged and dashed to stay away from the predator. Group Tag: Teamwork made the dream work here, with students working together to tag or protect each other.  The fastest group won. VIP Tag:  Students were in teams of four, and one special student became the VIP each round while the rest had to work together to keep them safe! Secret Agent Tag: Stealth mode activated—this one had students sneaking, weaving, and laughing as they played spy-style tag. These games are not only fun—they also help build cardiova...
Hello families! We’re now into Week 2 of our basketball unit , and the energy in the gym continues to be amazing! After spending last week building strong dribbling fundamentals, we expanded our focus this week to include passing and shooting , while continuing to reinforce dribbling through warm-ups and games. This week, students were introduced to the bounce pass , a key passing technique in basketball. We practiced starting with the ball at our chest, keeping our elbows out, and using a single bounce to get the ball to a partner. It was great to see students concentrating on proper form and teamwork. For shooting, we worked on a two-hand basketball shot , encouraging students to aim carefully and use their legs to help generate power. On Wednesday , we set up skill stations to reinforce all of these abilities. Students rotated through three activities: Dribbling stations to practice control and movement Bounce passing stations to build accuracy with a partner Shooting...
Hello families! We’ve kicked off an exciting new unit in Physical Education—basketball! This week, our focus was entirely on one of the most important foundational skills in the game: dribbling . From Kindergarten through Grade 4, students rolled up their sleeves, grabbed their basketballs, and got right to work. Each class began with a dribbling warm-up that introduced a variety of techniques: Crossovers (dribbling the ball from one hand to the other) Dribbling in circles (to build coordination and spatial awareness) Using their off hand (to develop ambidextrous control) High and low dribbles (to adapt to different game situations) These warm-ups set the tone and helped build confidence through repetition and practice . It was wonderful to see the students so engaged—they practiced hard and were especially excited when they mastered a challenging skill or trick! To make our learning extra fun and interactive, we also played two exciting dribbling games this week...
