Year-End PE Wrap-Up

What an amazing year we’ve had in Physical Education! From the first days of learning routines to our final games and activities, your children brought energy, curiosity, and joy to the gym (and outdoors!) every week. Throughout the year, we explored a wide range of skills—from movement fundamentals and teamwork challenges to sports like badminton, soccer, and frisbee. We played creative games, practiced fair play, and learned how to move our bodies in fun and healthy ways. Watching the growth in confidence, coordination, and cooperation was truly rewarding. Thank you for your continued support, and for helping your children come to PE ready to move and try their best. I hope everyone has an active and playful summer. See you in the fall! — Mr. V Below you will find my curriculum newsletter which highlights our learning this past term (February-June). In Physical Education this term, students continued to participate in individual, partner, and team activities.  Emphasis h...

Frisbee Fun in the Sun!

We’ve been soaking up the sunshine this week in PE as students practiced their frisbee throwing skills! Our focus was on both distance and accuracy, and students worked hard on improving their control, aim, and teamwork. We started with some drills to practice longer throws and catching on the move. Once everyone was warmed up, we played Leapfrog Touchdowns , a fast-paced game where teams tried to complete passes and make it into the endzone without dropping the frisbee. Students had to communicate, move into open space, and anticipate each other's throws — great practice for both skills and teamwork! Next, we played Rock the Pylon , an accuracy-based game where students earned points by either hitting the pylon directly or landing their frisbee inside the circle around it. The excitement was high as students cheered each other on and challenged themselves to aim carefully. It’s been a fantastic week of active learning, and we’re proud of how students are building both their phy...

Frisbees, Teamwork, and 4 Corner Hockey Frenzy

Hello families, This week in PE, we had plans to get outside and dive into frisbee skills, building toward a fun introduction to disc golf. However, the smoke in the air kept us indoors for most of the week.  But we made the most of our time and kept the energy high! We were lucky enough to spend Tuesday outside, where students learned the basics of tossing and catching a frisbee. We practiced stepping with our opposite foot, aiming our throws, and making soft catches. It was great to see students encouraging one another and celebrating even the small improvements. Back indoors, we shifted gears and played a fast-paced and exciting game called 4 Corner Hockey Frenzy . In this game, students worked in teams to score goals in other teams’ nets while also defending their own. The twist? Each goal scored earned their team a small item, and the team with the most collected items by the end won the round! It was a great way to promote teamwork, quick thinking, and lots of movement—all...

High-Energy Fun!

Hello Parents! It's been an exciting week here in PE class with lots of high-energy activities that the kids absolutely loved. We focused on keeping the energy up and the fun flowing with a variety of games that got everyone moving and smiling. Game Highlights: 1. 4 Corner Soccer: This game was a blast! It's a dynamic twist on traditional soccer where each corner of the gym becomes a goal, and teams race to score while defending their own corners. 2. Cops and Robbers: A classic game that never fails to excite. Students strategized and sprinted in this game of tag, working on agility and teamwork. 3. Hoop Flip Relays: These relays tested coordination and speed as teams flipped hoops down the gym and back, cheering each other on with every flip. 4. Wolf Cage: A favourite among the students, where the "runners" must try and slip through the wolf cages, without being caught by the "wolves." Learning Through Play: These games aren't just fun—they're a...
