Jump Rope for Heart
This week in PE we proudly kicked off Jump Rope for Heart. Students were excited to get moving while also learning how to take care of their hearts.
We began by talking about EASY Healthy Habits. EASY stands for EAT healthy foods, be ACTIVE every day, SCREENTIME should be less than 2 hours a day, and say YES to water and no to sugary drinks. We discussed how small choices each day can make a big difference in keeping our hearts strong. Students shared great ideas about ways they already stay active and healthy.
We also learned how to recognize the signs of a stroke using the word FAST. F is for Face drooping. A is for Arm weakness. S is for Speech difficulty. T is for Time to call 911. Knowing these signs can help us act quickly and potentially save a life.
Of course, we spent plenty of time jumping rope all week long. Students practiced their basic jumps, tried some new skills, and challenged themselves to keep moving for longer periods of time. It was fantastic to see their effort, perseverance, and encouragement toward one another.
We are also thrilled to share that we have already blown past our fundraising goal of $2000 and have surpassed $3000. Thank you to all of our families for your incredible generosity and support. Your contributions are helping make a real difference in heart and stroke research and education.
