We are incredibly proud to share that our school community has now raised more than $4500 for Jump Rope for Heart. This is an amazing accomplishment and a true reflection of the generosity and commitment of our families. Our students have shown tremendous heart, both in their fundraising efforts and in their participation in our jumping activities. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make a difference.

We have also started our floor curling unit. Students learned the basics of the game, with a major focus on how to accurately throw a stone with the correct weight. Students are working on controlling their force so their stone travels the right distance, while also aiming carefully for the target. 

Our curling unit has connected nicely to our learning about the Winter Olympic Games. We have been discussing the three Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship, and what those look like in our gym.

When we "catch" students demonstrating excellence by trying their best, respect by showing kindness and fairness, or friendship by including and encouraging others, they are awarded a gold medal. Students proudly post their medals on the central bulletin board by the office. It has been wonderful to see that board filling up with examples of positive character and leadership.

Frisbee Fun in the Sun!

We’ve been soaking up the sunshine this week in PE as students practiced their frisbee throwing skills! Our focus was on both distance and accuracy, and students worked hard on improving their control, aim, and teamwork. We started with some drills to practice longer throws and catching on the move. Once everyone was warmed up, we played Leapfrog Touchdowns , a fast-paced game where teams tried to complete passes and make it into the endzone without dropping the frisbee. Students had to communicate, move into open space, and anticipate each other's throws — great practice for both skills and teamwork! Next, we played Rock the Pylon , an accuracy-based game where students earned points by either hitting the pylon directly or landing their frisbee inside the circle around it. PE Outside This Week

  PE Outside This Week This week in PE, we’ve been enjoying the fresh air outside while the Three Left Feet dance company runs a two-week residency for our K–2 students in the gym. With our classes moving outdoors, it was the perfect opportunity to revisit some classic recess games. Students had fun learning and practicing games like hopscotch and 4 square, which not only build coordination and agility but also help promote teamwork and friendly competition. It’s been great to see students smiling, staying active, and adding new options to their recess playtime! A reminder that mornings can still be quite cool, so please ensure students come dressed appropriately for the weather so they can stay comfortable while being active outside.

Building Badminton Skills! Over the past two weeks in Physical Education, our K–4 students have been diving into the exciting world of badminton ! It’s been wonderful to see their energy, determination, and growth as they learn new skills on the court. We’ve focused on two key skills: the backhand serve and practicing short rallies . At first, these were challenging for many students, but with consistent effort and enthusiasm, they’ve made fantastic progress. One of the biggest highlights has been rallying with the students myself—many of them have been so excited to see how many times we can keep the birdie going back and forth!
